Low speed Shudder and vibration

So.....

Where to begin with this one.

Mostly I'm mad at my self.

I let a friend drive my truck the other day from the hotel where we were staying to the Airport, she assured me that she was more than capable of driving it, (she's a farm girl so I beleived her). She only had to go a few miles.

Next time I get in it, there is an obvious shuuder/vibration/noise when in the low gears taking off etc.

AT highway speed the vibration goes away but there is a whine that is most noticeable when you are coasting.

Any ideas?

Maybe it was just a coincedence that she was the last to drive it, but it was working fine when I drove it last.

I'm wondering if she lefty the park brake on and busted a U-joint or something.

Any help where to start looking would be GREAT!

Nope, no lockable hubs.

I just had a Ujoint replaced in September right before the 60K warranty ran out.

I wonder if it's the new one gone bad or they missed a bad one?

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

Shudder/Vibration from bad drive shaft u-joints is usually most noticible when there is a change in the drive shaft angle, like when taking off or when the front ends drops slightly under breaking. Mine went at 30k...

Axle u-joints you can usually feel in the steering wheel when turning sharp. They made it to 50k.... hope that helps

hmmm. I had one driveshaft u-joint replaced at 60K

This was an all of a sudden thing.

Truck drove fine then, truck had terrible vibration.

I guess I'll have to pull the shaft off and see what's happening with it.

But sounds right it is most noticable at low speed, accelerating or braking.

Sure enough, pulled the driveshaft last night and the centre u-joint right behind the hanger bearing was locked up.

Sounds simple enough for once!
