low mpg 06 quad cab tsb?
what tires woudl yall suggest that have a strong enough sidewall that are say 1 or 2" taller than stock... he doesnt want anymore sway than it currently has (minimal, but existing).
he'd prefer a STRONGER sidewall than the stock sidewalls if possible...
Thanks

My 03 came with the Gen Ameritrac's and i got along fine with them. replaced them once and the set i had on when i sold the truck had over 30,000 miles on them and had well over 1/2 the tread left.
most my miles are interstate towing a 46' gooseneck @ 65mph.
Same tires just came on my 06 and i bought road hazard warrenty on them from discount tire for 19.00 eacn.

My '06 with 3.73s had around 20 miles on it when I drove it off the lot (most of them from my test drive) and the overhead read 11-12 mpg. The mileage never really crept over 13 till after about 3000 miles and then I lifted it and slammed 315s under it and it dropped back to 12. Installed the Edge Juice around 9000 miles and that gave me 13-14 mpg on setting 2 or 3. I now have around 19000 on it and it consistently gets 14 or better but never over 15-16 on the highway. I only do some occasional light towing and once in a while tow a tractor or skidloader a few miles but not enough to calculate its effect on mileage. Most of my driving though is stop and go or across rolling hills and country roads - and hey, I admit I might be a little heavy on the foot sometimes- but then again who can resist?
trucks up to about 3500 miles now...
got about 11.1 mpg (overhead) on the trip to the track which is about a 1 1/2 hr drive (apprx 90 miles), average speed of ~70mph. so thats a lil improvement.
empty the truck got apprx 15.4 mpg at 65-80 mph (depended on who was driving) overall.
question for yall.. does the tow/haul mode do anything for the mileage while towing, or would it just hurt it?
thanks

I think that some times the tow/haul help because the TC locks up faster so its better getting on the highway. But below 40 it will hold 3rd longer so you can't coast as much... but for highway I think tow/haul is better.
I just bought mine last week (9/13) and I'm showing 17.3 as of right now with 450 miles on it. I do alot of driving with my job (3500/month) and will soon see what kind of mileage I get. I usually drive 70-75 MPH. I drove a 2001 Cummins about 4 years ago and was always between 18-20. I hope to achieve about the same.
got about 15.5 mpg again, cruisin between 70-85 mph.
towin the trailer, doin avg of about 75 (varied between 65 and 80) I got 10.6 in tow/haul mode.
i think my tranny is shot, it shudders like its slipping VERY hard in 1st, and some in second, it feels like the tires are spinning almost but they arent... it only happens under harder throttle application (1/2 throttle and over).
gonna take it in and see whats up
it has 3600 miles on it now..

just looked up the thread... everyones only seems to be going till a lower mph (like 10 or 15mph)
mine was doing it till almost 40mph, and it doesnt without a load as well, but only to about 15 ish mph under HEAVY throttle.
I guess its time to take it to the dealer
