I ended up buying an 04 cummins 600, and not the 555, because the 600 seemed to be a little louder (thats what I wanted) than the 55 is this true?

Does anyone have any info on the loudness of the 600 compared to the 04 powerstroke and DMAX?

 

They're all to quiet for my tastes. Should have bought an 02. Those are loud.

 

The 600 should be quieter than the 555. There is a different fan shroud and a couple of other things to make it quieter.

 

How about the under-hood insulation? My 2003 came without it. But I understand from other 600 owners their's have it. Nat

 

Not the 2002 models.

 

The 6.0L PSD isn't even in the running, maybe before they turned the pilot injection off, but not now.
The DMAX I thought had better stats/ratings.
But the Cummins was the quietest by my ear.
