lost a u-joint need part #

I have a 2005 3500 quad cab Short bed 4x4. I have a bad u-joint on the rear drive shaft. I did a search and got a little confused on the correct part numbers for replacements. What works that I can buy from the auto parts and I would like greaseable ones. Thanks...

Please dont quote me. This is from some notes I had jotted down from this site for future reference so I dont know if its correct or not:: "If you want to install some good greasable joints go to napa and ask for a 351A precision U joint. Its the same part for all 3 rear u joints on the 6 speed regardless of single or dual wheel status.
On the front joint setup just replace the whole shaft...
Its only $200 for an end to end replacement shaft with 3 new u joints and the double cardan do dad.
Your local Dodge dealer or mopar4less.com.::: Hopefully somebody else on the forum will confirm this or give you better info. Couldnt tell from your signature if you had a standard or auto transmission.

This is tough B/c they all use diff. Part numbers. I'm just replacing my first u-joint's but, I'm doing them all at once. FRNT and R at the same time plus the carrier bearing. It's a good investent to put greasables on our trucks by the way. Take care and good luck.

Found some data on this subject I had previously pasted to a file. It is for the auto.

Here are the numbers I found on a different thread. I bought them all
about a year ago, but just put the font ones on a few weeks
ago, so I can’t testify for any but the #464. I figured I wanted some on
hand in case the stockers left town.

The #464s have much more meat to them than the stockers.

Rear driveshaft 2 Piece precision (takes 3) Precision #295
Front driveshaft Cardan H joint (takes 2) Precision #232
Front driveshaft @ front axle (takes 1) Precision #235
Front Axle U joints LEFT AND RIGHT (takes 2) #464

These guys have a pretty good online catalog.

I think those numbers are for a long bed truck with 2 piece drive shaft. I have a short bed single rear shaft. Maybe they are the same?

Sorry I wasnt much help. The Napa numbers I wrote down are for my truck and I dont know enough about it to say if they will work for yours. There were some excellent posts some time back but I dont know what to search under. larryt posted a pretty good link.

Thanks I guess the only way to find out is to take it off and go to the parts store to match it up. Thank you for the help...

Well I got the U joint and it is installed. I went to the local NAPA and their books showed part number 120-0160 NAPA u joint. It crosses to the Precision #330.
The fit was not perfect out of the box. You need to grind the back of the caps down just a little on the bench grinder and I thinned down the clips just a little too. Then it fit perfect. Only cost me $13.89 a piece. The truck is a 2005 3500 quad cab short wheel base 4x4 auto. any question I'll try to help...

Well, that blows my part number out of the water. The difference must be the auto vs standard tranny. Glad you got it working. Being able to grease the joints makes me feel like I am doing some good.
