Lost my 1st to 2nd shift
Lost my 1st to 2nd shift
Had to work my tranny extra hard coming at of woods w/trailer loaded getting stuck in some bad sand traps that I had to go through!
Now tranny will not shift 1-2 on its own I have to rev up to 3 thou rpm and let off throttle and it would shift then or back to first and have to do it again?
Was lucky to get home!
Anyone have ideas on this problem!
thanks in advance!

check all the connectors under the vehicle. Also, check for good contact at the PCM unit on the firewall, pass side. Remove connectors and spray with contact cleaner and then reattach. If that doesn't correct shifting problem, look elsewhere, like band adjustment, apply solenoid, etc.
Most likely a broken band strut, not an uncommon thing. Since the same electrical controls also controls the 2-3 shift its not likely an electrical problem. If the linning has come off the band and the band cant stop the drum anymore a band adjustment may get the 1-2 shift back for a short time but ist gonna tear up the drum (if it hasnt allready) and the metal is going to cause even more problems as you drive it.
The band linings are very thin in the first place, band adjustments are a band-aid for what needs to be replaced in the first place and causes more damage down the road. Save yourself some hard earned cash and fix it right, right now. Pull the pan and look for the struts. Also look for metal thats not normal. Pull down on the lever, if it comes all the way down and you cant see the strut on the drivers side, it may be laying on top of the VB. Pull the VB to find it, its likely broken. Or it may be laying in the pan. Either way the VB comes off. If you have lots of iron in the pan, a rebuild and new drum will be required.

Sure enough it was the bands and they where so lose i can't believe brackets did not fallout! Front band that is! Thats what ya get when you don't service timely! Put a new solenoid convert kit and sensor in since pan was off! Thanks for help all!
