Lost 2nd gear in 04 4x4 3500 auto. trans.

I have a 2004 Dodge Cummins 4x4 3500 single wheel. Auto trans. started slipping in 2nd gear. It has 210,000 miles on it. I can still drive it but I have to time it just right to skip second. Is there any alternative fix other than spending the $ 2,500 to have it rebuilt? All the other gears are working.

Could be several things that caused it but at that mileage a rebuild and a few tweaks are in order if want the truck reliable.

More than likely a rebuild but they are know for bands slipping. Might just be a adjustment. But 210k on it.....

Thanks for the info.. I was pretty sure that a rebuild would be in order. The rest of the truck is in great shape so it'll be worth it.
