After reading quite a bit of threads on air intake systems and filters and cfm's etc. I went out and found dust on inside of my stock intake!! I immediately tightened all of the hose clamps which by my standards were not tight!!!!

any thoughts on this, and any thoughts on custom intakes what's working and what isn't. The other thread I was reading was way over my head with cfm, H2O, etc.

When I took of my factory airbox at 4,000 miles I had some dusting on turbo. Since adding the aFe Magnum Force with Pro7 filter I have had no more dust intrusion.

For all the griping DC does about aftermarket filters not filtering good enough maybe they should check their own airfilter setup.

 

I've been running my Custom intake with standard AFE cone filter for 5,000 miles now. It's worked great with now soot or dirt on the inside of my intake tube! I think reports of black soot with aftermarket filters are from the filters coming pre oiled to heavy, and from people then selves applying to much oil when cleaning them ( I have seen 2 filters so far come from AFE with TOO much oil on them first hand) so I know this is a possibility.
