Looking to swap dually for single axle/bed

I am hauling less these days and would like to swap out bed, rear axle, front hubs and wheels with someone that has a single rear wheel. Preferably white and around Texas. Any ideas would help, thanks.

Trade in for a different one, it will be cheaper, easier, less headaches, and won't void your warranty.

How would trading a one year old vehicle be cheaper than his proposed idea. Trading would be the last thing I would do, too much of a financial hit.

Why take the risk of getting a lemon when I already have a good truck was my thinking.

ok, lets take a second look at it, we can put the voided warranty on the table to start, no way will DC cover the drive train once you swap it. First you have to find all the parts, and one would assume that you would get them from wrecked trucks from junk yards, or buy them from the dealer . Next you would have to find parts from an 06 in hopes that the wiring is that same for the abs system. Next you would have to determine if the steering components are the same. And of course this is assuming that a 3500 srw and drw have the same frame in the front.

On to the back of the truck, now you need to find an axle and bed, and possibly a gas tank and what ever parts are needed to convert the emergancy brake from the drw to the srw. I'm not positive, but I believe the springs are different as well. So after swapping all of that you need to determine if the gas tank will work with the srw bed. Now lets assume you couldnt find it in the right color, you then have to have it repainted, and nope who ever you take it to does a good job. Then you need to get rims and tires, for the new set up, you need to pay someone to reinstall your goose neck hitch, because you don't want the liability, and while they are at it, have them install the tool box and headache rack after you have the bed re-line-Xed. I am sure there are little things I have forgotten, but in the end you will spend between 7,000 and 10,000, and thats if you do it yourself and pay for the paint to be done by someone else. Pay someone to do the work, even higher. Think he can trade in and take more of a 7 to 10 hit?? There is a reason for lemon laws, if you get one, make them buy it back.

If you reread his original post, he wants to convert a drw to a srw.

Driving a dually isnt so bad what do you actually hope to gain? I guess I don't really understand doing all that work to be a little narrower. My wife drives an 03 1 ton every day shes got no complaints. The springs are not going to ride that much better. The only real benefit seems to be the fact that you would have to buy 2 less tires. Not saying its a bad idea I just dont understand.
