Looking to swap dually for single axle/bed
I had my dually fenders off before and saw that the body is actually cut out a bit on the stock fender. I think a set of bushwacker fender flares would cover it though. Maybe forget swapping everything out and just go for fender flares, regular stock rims and remove the hub extension on the front?
Could be cheaper and would retain warranty? Put that extra money towards a lift and big tires?

look at pic's, mine is a 3500 / 2002 dually, or was. Replaced rear wheels with a pair of 8" rims. Rear end is M80 posi 3:54 gears. Made the bed to fit, is using a tag-along trailer, usually not more than 12000 lbs GW on trailer, pulls great, shorted frame, moved hitch forward 3 feet, distance from center of rear axel to hitch 3 feet.
I'd look on eBay for a SRW bed, new take offs are on there pretty often. They swap easily, and there is no need to swap axles either, just remove the front spacers and pick out some new wheels and your're good to go.
You really don't have to swap axles to go single wheel. Just pull off your front buds, or change hubs, which ever your model uses, and put on the singles all around. Single wheels are cheap.Sell the dually bed and buy a single wheel bed. You can save the dually stuff for if you sell the truck or sell it off.

ok, lets take a second look at it, we can put the voided warranty on the table to start, no way will DC cover the drive train once you swap it. First you have to find all the parts, and one would assume that you would get them from wrecked trucks from junk yards, or buy them from the dealer
. Next you would have to find parts from an 06 in hopes that the wiring is that same for the abs system. Next you would have to determine if the steering components are the same. And of course this is assuming that a 3500 srw and drw have the same frame in the front.
On to the back of the truck, now you need to find an axle and bed, and possibly a gas tank and what ever parts are needed to convert the emergancy brake from the drw to the srw. I'm not positive, but I believe the springs are different as well. So after swapping all of that you need to determine if the gas tank will work with the srw bed. Now lets assume you couldnt find it in the right color, you then have to have it repainted, and nope who ever you take it to does a good job. Then you need to get rims and tires, for the new set up, you need to pay someone to reinstall your goose neck hitch, because you don't want the liability, and while they are at it, have them install the tool box and headache rack after you have the bed re-line-Xed. I am sure there are little things I have forgotten, but in the end you will spend between 7,000 and 10,000, and thats if you do it yourself and pay for the paint to be done by someone else. Pay someone to do the work, even higher. Think he can trade in and take more of a 7 to 10 hit?? There is a reason for lemon laws, if you get one, make them buy it back.
