Just a thought but, with the pump in the tank and the tank level run down low before refueling, the pump and motor could overheat and burn up sooner?

Would refueling at 1/8 to 1/4 of a tank more often, while there is still fuel covering the pump and motor removing heat, help keep it cooler and therefore make it last longer?

Not sure just thinking out loud.

I had poor fuel pump pressure on my truck.I talked to the dealer & a diesel shop last week,They told me that the 2005 in fuel tank pump retro fit is not much better. If you are running any kind of HP box the fuel pump is starved for fuel.My truck stumbled and check engine light came on, codes I had were 0192 & 0237.I had a FASS system installed this week and keep a constant 12-13 psi of pressure (WOT) on my fuel pressure gauge.coobie

I have a 05 cummins and it lossed all power but it would still run. check engine light came on and it was a PO251, I believe. It said it was the injection pump metering control A. Is the injection pump and the lift pump the same thing If not what is the differents? Sorry if this is a dumb ?? just I am new to diesel.

No, the lift pump get fuel to the injector pump and the injector pump get fuel to the commonrail/injectors.

It is under warrenty isn't it?

Last one I had die, I could re-start it but it would die if I throttled it hard. Limp mode style drove it 10 miles to house.
