Lift Pump Trouble

I have a 99 dodge and it has a superchip on it but nothing else now the liuft pump was going out so i got a factory engine mouted pump from a friend for free so i go to install the pump and where the pump goes on the motor it had nothing but a block that had 2 banjo fitings on it and a looked arround and found the connecter it was pluged up to a wire and i traced the wire only to find nothing on the frame or arround the tank. I disconnected the plug and hooked up the new lift pump on the block it starts and runs and the new pump works but i am not getting hardly any fuel pressure what could be the propblem and could it have a pump in the tank? Thanks for any feedback.

It didn't come with a pump in the tank from the factory, but some were retrofitted later. How long have you owned the truck? Any way of contacting the PO?

Would it be easier to follow the fuel line back from the cannister when looking for a pump.
