Hard to crank sometimes?

I have a little over 2000 miles on my new truck, and I have noticed that sometimes when cranking the truck, it seems like it has to rollover for awhile before it cranks. It does it every so often, but more so when the motor has been running and is shut off, and cranked again a few minutes later. Is this normal, or should I be concerned about it?

Thanks
Trey

Mine has a about 20,000 miles on it now and cranks right up every time. If it were mine I would take it to the dealer and exercise that Warranty!

Mine exhibits that symptom as well. Cold starts, fires within one second usually, but if I try and start it within a minute or two of shutting down (admittedly, a rare occurance) it cranks longer.

Ditto Wexman, I have the same thing happen when starting the truck within seconds of shutting it down...I don't do that often.

I don't shut it off and then crank it within a few minutes very often either. It may be no big deal, but it just makes me worry. I have already taken the truck in the first week I had it due to a power steering leak. The local service department, are a bunch of jerks, and I don't like dealing with them. Plus, they won't give a loaner, which pisses me off.

Thanks

Mine does the same. I am a little gun shy of the local dealer as they don't seem to know much about the cummins. I am still only getting 11.1 MPG and that is on the freeway at 65 MPH.

Well, I just noticed it on mine too. Mornings fires right up. Drive for ten minutes, shut her down, go back out in 5 minutes, a bit longer to fire back up? This morning fired right up. Just started yesterday and I have 21K on mine. First time this happened. I might check the fuel filter and see if that helps things. Drives and runs great. Still getting good milage. You guys ever come up with anything?

Mine does it too, only if very hot and I crank it back up soon after shutting off, and I never shut it off if above 300 degrees but, doesnt matter. No problems whatsoever other than that and I am getting incredible mileage lately, 85,000 miles - I think I am going to ask my wife for a cool down timer so I can leave my truck running and lock the doors
