lift pump in tank keeps running. 2509 code
I've checked the 2509 code search. did most of them. No one mentions the lift pump in tank issue I have. truck cranks fast but no start. The pump keeps running with the key on. It ran fine yesterday and won't start at all today.
I would be looking into your lift pump. The CP3 will actually draw from the tank but not well. It may start on the fluid and then the CP3 catches up to keep it running. Once the LP gets to pressure it should stop.
BTW, DO NOT USE starting fluid on these trucks. The grid heaters can ignite it.

Iinstalled an edge mileage max about 200 miles ago. anything to do woth that? The pump just keeps running. I will look at a fuel preesure leak also. I am looking into that senario now. Hate to grab the pump out of the tank though.
You can use ether to start these trucks, just allow the grid heater to go off first. If ether starts the truck I would look at an injector issue, not the lift pump. 03 trucks are known for injector problems.
The best way is to check fuel pressure. If you're not able to do that you can remove the canister lid and fuel filter and bump the key. If you get diesel everywhere chances are that your lift pump isn't the issue. It's not a definate answer but it's a start.

It sounds like your pump might not be flowing the volume that it's supposed to. I remember doing that with mine and diesel sprayed out of the canister. You really need to check the fuel pressure. I believe the factory pump should supply 4-8 psi. The fact that the truck runs when you start it with ether has me confused. I've never seen one of these trucks run with a dead lift pump. I've also never seen one that delivers less than it's supposed to. Usually it's either working or it's not. Sometimes it's intermittent but it's obvious. The in tank pumps seem to be pretty reliable on stock trucks. The CP3 will pull but not enough to run the truck consistently. Does the truck stumble under wide open throttle or at any other point?
When I had to change injectors I could start the truck with ether and it would run fine but once I shut it down it wouldn't start again without the ether. I could change my fuel filter and it would crank without it and then eventually it would require ether again. Other than that, the truck ran fine. I would think that if you were having lift pump problems the CP3/rail would be starved and the truck would stumble. Check your oil and see if the level has risen. That would be a dead give away but you could have a bad injector and the level stay the same.
As for the code, I believe that's the one that comes up if your battery connections are loose. Check to make sure your terminals are tight and clean and clear the code and see if it comes back.

Had a bit of fuel moisture at on of the fuel lines. Tightened that up. truck started without ether. Pump intank seems to run about 35 secs, then stops. I should tell you that I have 250,600 miles on it. Is my pump clogged or just worn out?
I had the 2509 code. It is your Battery!!! Change the battery out and it will start.
