There is a huge number of posts on this subject. Do a search and decide which pump is best for you.

The lift pump is a known weakness but what do you mean the water pump is out too?

Bumping the starter does not make the pump run. It runs when the key is on.

It runs for almost 30 seconds if you bump the starter on mine. Take the free warranty replacement unit in-tank like I did.

I don't think you're meaning water pump...do you mean the water/fuel seperator that is part of the fuel filtration system, which is right by the lift pump?

anyways, you are correct that bumping the started should temporarily engage the lift pump.

I took the dealer's warranty in-tank lift pump and it's still working for me. If you're running a programmer, go with an aftermarket pump.

I would have them replace it under warranty. You already have the intank version, don't you?

Intank version didn't start until 05 unless his truck had already been retrofitted at the dealer. 03-04.5 trucks have it mounted on back of the fuel filter housing.

Critter, if you are going to stick with your current power mods....the retrofit intank pumps are holding up very well.

If you plan more power mods....you may want to go ahead with an aftermarket pump....FASS or GDP Walbro etc.

Unless doing mods to run the rail dry the factory in tank unit has given very little trouble. Its also designed not to stall you if it fails.Working on getting mine done, just haven't yet.

I used the GDP Walbro. It's cheaper and they are about $115 from Summit if it ever goes again. Craig

I tyhink the water and lift pump would fall under the engine warranty. I would talk to the dodge service department and see. They did the intank pump on mine and it has worked great.
