leak from bell housing

Just noticed yesterday that I have some fluid coming from my bell housing. It's red in color but it doesn't smell like tranny fluid. It seems a little watery like coolent. Where would that coolent be coming from in that area ? It's not a big leak just a few drops .Which is enough to get my attention.

I had that same exact problem and it ended up being coolant. It was leaking beside the turbo on a heater line that has a Y in it. It's a rubber hose that connects the pipe to the Y. It had two hose clamps on it so I tightened them and my leak was gone!! It's worth a look

06's are famous for that, for some reason.

Tighten down those two clamps on the short length of hose down by the turbo.

Later trucks have an updated hose/clamps.

It took the dealer 3 days to find it back in 06.

Hmmm, gonna have to look, been seeing red spots on my driveway which I saw drips from the front bellhousing when I looked under and was worse when parked at an uphil or downhill angle. Truck has 70k miles. Thought it was trans but the fluid level never went down and I just added coolant for the first time since new. Honestly never noticed the coolant being red, just noticing the level in the reservoir. Will have to check further when the weather lets up.

Yeah, I had a heck of a time finding where it was coming from, and thought it was more serious, until I searched on here.

I have had mine replaced with the upgraded hose and clamps, (whatever that means, they look the same to me) two years ago. I have to tighten the clamps every fall when the temp starts dropping because it starts leaking again. Just did it this week. Takes about a half a turn on each. Thanks Mark

This thread shows the updated parts. The hose is red, and the clamps are spring loaded type.

I asked this same question about 2 weeks ago!
I also have an 06 and it was the same hose leaking. Tightened the clamps and it went away
Here is a link with a picture https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...t=coolant+leak of where it was leaking.
