My 2006 was Notchy in all gears, I switched to AMSOIL ATF and it fixed it right up! My 2007 G56 has always been smooth and I don't use the Amsoil in it, I use the MOPAR ATF4.

Mine (5 hole) has a little resistance compared to the others but if I take my time and put it in slow,,, its fine,,, I serviced the tranny and it really needed it,,,,, and its a little better,,, going to go to Amsoil @ the next differntial service in about 9K more miles

I had some notchiness with my 2-3 shift on the first few shifts cold mornings...I inquired at Dodge about this, they spoke to the techline and it was suggested to put in a bottle of the Mopar friction modifier. I put some in with fresh ATF+4 and it sure has smoothed things out.
It seems like G56 owners everywhere have a different issue with their shifting...

Mine is also knotchy going into 5th. Then again my nv5600 was a knotchy trans to. I just think its the nature of the beast with these monsters.

5th seems to be notchy on most of the G56 trans. Mine has been that way since brand new, and now has 108K on it. I changed the fluid at 60K miles with Mopar ATF+4 and it was the same.

It's like 8 bucks...I used one bottle. My plan is to stick with that routine...I inquired if it would cause any issues (yellow metals/anti-wear addtives clashes), and the guy at the Dodge technical contact said no, but it would probably wouldn't help anything...well, it smoothed my G56 out!
I posted on BITOG as well. General consensus there was that it wouldn't cause any issues. I guess it either works or it doesn't. Worked for me, not a major difference, but certainly noticeable.
