the best thing you can do is change to bd. that is what we do as our pumps fail. you can reuse the shifter switch on the bd. the bd has considerable more stopping power, especially at lower rpm.

Thanks for the reply carl48, I have read about some switching to an electric vacuum pump and am wanting to find out more about what they are using and how they are installing them. I can't really afford to compleatly switch over to BD so am looking for other options. Thanks!

If I had read Smokeman's link before I bought my PacBrake, I would have gone that route instead of spending so much more. In terms of performance, the brakes are very similar.

I pretty much convinced I'm going to keep my jake and go to an electric vacuum pump. Can anybody tell me what the vacuum requirement is for the jake brake and also what electric pumps have people been using? Thanks

If I remember right, the 03 cummins had an electric vacuum pump as do alot of the ford products. The 03 mounted on the passenger side around the battery. About the same place as you jake vacuum control is. Last on I priced was about 129 bucks. I'm going that way when mine gives up.
