Jake Brake Light

I wanted to confirm that the Cummins/Mopar jake brake is supposed to have a small LED light come on when the jake brake in turned on. Mine has never had a light come on since it was installed. I thought I read somewhere that the instructions were wrong (wires were mis-labeled) and this error caused the light not to work.

Any insight to this issue?

THanks

The LED you ask about is right next to the pull switch for the jake.

As far as polarity, yes the LED will no work if wired backwards...I have not heard of wiring problems.

I'd take it to the dealer & let them sort it out.

Thanks for the quick and helpful feedback. Any suggestions on what 2 wires are likely to be reversed for this light not to work?

FYI - The brake itself works correctly, it is only the light with a problem.

Thanks again

when mine was installed, i watched and saw that he forgot the black wire...it didnt mention it at all in myinstructions. so he went back and figured it out. i think its yellow to yellow/black. i dont know if that has anything to do with it, but id make sure that all four wires are accounted for

Go here

http://www.jakebrake.com/support/

and select the 5.9 ISB Dodge, the download the installation manual...

If I recall correctly there were three wires from the switch... Red went to keyed power source, yellow went to position 39 in the connector B on the computer, and grn/yel went to ground...

OK, I see what you mean in the diagram.

It shows a red and a black wire coming from the switch, that get spliced to a yellow wire that leads to ground. The red wire from the switch ends up hooked to the gray wire which leads to keyed power. Then the Yellow wire goes to 39B...

It was a while ago since I installed mine...
