Intermittent clicking from motor area?
Recently I've noticed new clicking sounds from the motor area when warm/hot. The clicking seems to come from the drive belts and pulleys while idling. After shutting down the motor to inspect and then restarting it again the clicking sounds went away. So, the clicking comes and goes. Any ideas to the cause or source of this clicking sound?
You may have a pulley bearing getting dry and ready to fail. Remove the belt and spin each pulley to listen for noise and feel for rough bearings. Also check your belt for glazing and cracking. If antifreeze spills on the belt, it will make a chattering noise for a while.
It's not the A/C compressor, but the sound was about the same and as load. The clicks would sound about every half a second at idle (click, click, click, click).
I've done a few shorts trips since and all is good at this time (for now). Maybe it could be a forward injector making the racket.

Nope, I know better than that. It was something else.

I have the clicking noise too and yet to figure it out. These engines have so many noises and vibrations I don't worry about nothing anymore, if it locks up so be it. It is almost impossible to find the source of the noises, I have and empty cup rattle in the dash and can't find it, the 2000 rpm vibration that vibrates the rear view mirror into a blur, the clicking noise is sporatic and sounds like it is in the front of the engine. My fuel mileage is excellent and I keep my fluids changed and run fuel additive to boot. If it won't make it to 400k I'll try a ford or chevy next time.

go buy a stethescope, listen to each injector and see if it is that. I have #1 injector ticking away at idle and low rpm, yet the dealer says it is all fine, my stethescope tells me different. I have the tick tick every second or so.
