What is the deffinition at STAR/Chrystler for idle time. Does it go by vechile speed or enigne speed?

I was told that "Idle Time" is anytime the engine is running under 1000 rpm. I can't verify that. It makes sense that my idle time is very high according to DC/Star. I drive 70% in city stop and go traffic, a lot of time under 1000 rpm. I do not let the truck idle for any long periods of time.

Anytime the engine control state is on the low speed governor (LSG) you are considered idling.

I've also heard that if the engine is off and the key is on the idle time is going up, but I haven't verified and find it hard to believe.

Anytime ignition is on and RPM is at or below 1000 is logged in ECM as idle time.

makes sense in a way, but only ifthere was a timmer before it started to log the event , For those that do drive city traffic, and what not, , if you hit 1200 or so then its gotta wait say 2 min (average traffic light) before it starts clocking idle or somethin. Or under 1000 and no vechile speed. But thanks for the info,

Is there any way to see wha the ecm has recorded for idle? Like it shows enigne hours on the thinger,, any way to see idle?

Are the DC specifications so poorly done that the engines cannot be used for anything other than cross-country hauling? If you use your CTD for normal city driving with the occasional camper or boat haul on the weekend, you will exceed the idle limit that DC thinks is excessive and therefore your fault.

It's the same thing with the fuel. Why wouldn't DC and Cummins design the fuel system for the fuel that is actually available? Instead we just hear that the injector and pump problems are because of the poor fuel in the US, which of course is worse than Europe, and the excessive idle time perpetrated by the CTD buyer.
