Injector Question

What the best way to determine if you have a bad injector? I’ve noticed that there is a new sound to my 600 that wasn’t there before. It’s a slight pinging/ticking sound that is noticed when accelerating under load. Not that I’m towing, but when you ease into the throttle with out causing the trans to downshift. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions/

Not sure if this will help but my 600 started out quiet but after about 5000 miles it got louder....not a bad noise but more of the clatter type noise in a diesel engine.

When one of my injectors started to go bad the noise from that had a very distinct metallic knock. Can't really describe it but very noticeable (even my non-mechanically inclined Wife could hear it) . Also my truck ran different almost like it stumbled or missed and the power was down as well.
To make a long story even longer...I took it to the Dealer, they checked it out and replaced a couple injectors and I was back to the way it was before.

Oh by the way...the pinging type noise your hearing is pretty normal with the 600, but I believe the new flash helps this as well.

I had the 037 flash done last night. I told the dealer about the pinging and they looked into it, but said they thought it was coming from the trans. Ya right! The metallic ping is still there. After I left the dealer I set the cruse at 60 and when ascending some hills in the area I could distinctly hear the pinging, which was never present before. I'm convinced it's an injector or two.

Hi All,
Speaking of things fuel related...My 03 3500 5.9, 4x4 is in the shop. Has been for 5 days while they try and find out whats wrong. Short story..
Took the trailer to the weigh scales about 20 miles away.Had 3/4 tank fuel and stopped and pumped in another 5 gallons to top up. Drove 3 miles to the scales weighed and towed home. parked 5th in driveway and moved truck to the side drive. 4 hrs later went to start it and no go.
Lots of juice/fuel but no go. tank guage on empty and O/H DTE showed - on the face.
Dealer says tank is full. Fuel pump is ok filters clean..no GAS in tank just diesel. They've call the engineers and they don't have any idea other than injectors shot. Thats the next try. Truck has only 10K miles on it.
Anyone have a similar issue which was resolved.. I miss my truck

I have that same strange noise, ticking/rattling/pinging type sound but is something not real apparent you have to listening for it. Havent worried about it, my engine keeps getting louder and am about to 15K on it since June now. Performance does not seem to have suffered--boy will this beats lug a trailer us long grades!
