C- failure w/ mods (especially pressure boxes) w/ no towing.

C: My father in law's 03 just had all six injectors replaced. Probably not all were bad. Engine would not start when warm. Now runs good. Had 110,000 miles on it at the time. No smoking ever, no fuel dumped. Just didnt start when warm. had to cool down to start again.

49k on mine now...much louder than when new, but still moving right along. Power Service and MMO every tank.

Been running the Quad Race since 36k miles and no problems. Once 100k is up and the injectors go, a set of Don M's are going in.

My sons 05, heavy hauling Bully Dog Multi Dog, #4 injector fail and total melting of the piston down to top piston ring. Cummins replaced complete shortblock and #4 injector. 18k miles and took 8 weeks to repair. Received truck out of the shop. Dealer said wait for 1000 miles before using Bully Dog again. Before 1600 miles #3 injector fail melting piston down to 2nd ring. Cummins is replacing shortblock again and dealer recomends I not put the Bully Dog back on but they would sell me a Dr. Performance chip from the dealer. Truck bought new in September 05 and been in the shop as much as it's been driven.

where on earth in tx do you live?? I need to go to your dealership for service. Most of the times you void your warranty with the snif of a bomb when it comes to expensive service. After 2 bad injectors and 2 shortblocks I would think you have enough common sense to not run it. Thats nuts that they even fixed it the first time!!

Best of luck, I would check out Edge Juice and a set of aftermarket injectors.

New to the board and new to Diesels so sorry for the dumb question.

What is PS/MMO. It is probably some kind of additive but ????

E for me but only 3k miles. It does sound louder every once in awhile, almost like a lifter tapping. Is this an injector noise?

Should I run a lube?

Don't worry about it. Threads like these scare new guys. PS=power service and MMO=Marvel Mystery Oil. People use these for additives. The PS raises the cetane value and helps keep the fuel system clean and the MMO is for lubricity purposes. The noise you hear is probably normal, timing is different when cold and you will hear noises. If an injector starts to knock you will know very quickly.

2005 Quad Cab Daully, 37-k miles number 2 injector HISTORY! 1/2 towing 4 horse trailer with living quarters. Had QUADZILLA untill 26-k started getting bad mileage , removed it and left stock except for pipe and intake kit. Dodge tried to blame it on aftermarket mods....
Now started getting 18.6 plus.
So, I do think DODGE/CUMMINS need to belly up to the bar and fix THE PROBELM! My 03 HO had no mods and NO PROBELM with 40-k miles and getting 18/20!

60,000 first injector out dealer said bad fuel caused problem. Yes the loud knock on start-up is first sign of bad- pluged injectors.
