If your looking for just a stock replacement I would check www.ebay.com. I think I saw one on there the other night for around $600.

Uh...well that helps some....

Look into a FASS or Fuel Perporator:

http://www.dieselpp.com/

http://fleetmate.com.au/udpairdog.html

Either of these will keep your fuel system happy

As well, Im not a third gen guy but a FP guage probably wouldnt hurt either

I recently had to replace my fuel injestor pump. These guys provided awesome service and replaced it with a rebuilt cummings part for half the price Dodge was charging. Southeast Power Systems. 4220 North Orange Blossum Trail, Orlando Florida 32804 (407) 293-7971

Power Service Diesel Kleen and Marvel Mystery Oil mix in every tank. I use 3parts PS to 1 part MMO and add 16oz to every fillup. Try it and you will tell the diffence in a tank or two. Buy both at wally-world, very inexpensive for the extra lubrication and injector cleaning. Mine runs much smoother and quieter with it.

Yeah maybe I'm picky....but the CRD does not have an "injection pump". It's only a high pressure pump (actually two).

The "injection pump" (CP3) is located on the left side of the engine to the front. it is mounted to the gear housing. they don't fail very often, supposedly they can run by themselves w/o a lift pump. they only require a specific flow rate to live. I haven't heard of any failing yet.

Right, its not an injection pump. Its just a fuel pump. Its job is to only pressurize the rail and the injectors to the actual metering.

In older diesels (pre 03 on CTD) the injection pump actually did the metering. The injectors would simply dump the fuel into the cylinder when the injection pump provided enough fuel pressure to "pop" open the injector.
