Identifying Upgraded Lift Pump...
Been reading a lot of posts discussing questionable lift pumps on 03-04 Dodge Rams and am now considering upgrading my new-used Ram's Lift Pump.
The trucks a 2003 w/50k - For starters...I could use some tips on how to identify if the TSB Lift Pump relocation/replacement upgrade has or hasn't been done...
This is my first Diesel and I haven't the slightest clue what to look for.

Look on the back of your fuel filter housing on right side of engine. If you see a black round object attached to the housing that is your lift pump. This is the stock pump location for these trucks. If it has been upgraded then your pump will be an in-tank conversion or a pump mounted on your frame rail. If you have the stock pump and plan on putting some power into your truck you need to invest in an upgrade. If you going to keep stock pump is alright until your warranty is up. If looking for an aftermarket kit try a Walbro set-up. Easy to install and trouble free.
The origional fuel pump was mounted on the back side of the fuel filter housing. If it has the in tank pump mod done the oe pump is removed,an adapter and fitting with a banjo bolt will take its place. You will also see a relay on the firewall(or Near by) with a batt feed,a lead going to the oe pump location and another wire going down around the fender liner.
