I took my truck to Dodge. ??????

Well I have a 2007 Dodge Mega Cab with the 5.9 diesel. Last November I got the front end recall notice so I took it to Blue sky country chrysler in Vegreville Alberta Canada.

A few days later the power steering gear box started to leak, 4 phone calls no call back, then about a week later the steering stablizer bar fell off, 10 more phone calls no call back.

Finally I had some time off work (3 days after working 32 days in a row) so I showed up at Blue Sky at 07:00 on Monday 1 March. They took my truck in to take a look they said that the gear box needed to be changed the steering stablizer would be changed but also a hose from the transmission cooler needed to be changed. All would be covered except for the hose.

Well after being left with no wheels in there waiting room for 5hrs. (they did offer to drive me to Walmart) I got my truck back. Well the gear box was not covered because they dont think they had anything to do with it. So now the $200 job is now almost $2000 and they would not give my truck back till I paid up. Fine I paid but the truck was fixed right? Wrong. I had to leave town and head back to work after the 600km drive I pulled into the parking lot at work. RED fluid all over under the hood.

The new transmission hose now has caused a leak at the connection point of the transmission cooler, also the hose from the power steering pump to the steering gear box is half threaded in and by the looks of it cross threaded.

Once again they dont call back and the woman that answers the phone is not a lot of help.

Anyone have some ideas to get my truck fixed right. This was the best truck I ever had but that was before I let BLUE SKY touch it.

They probably damaged your gear box also. I have seen some of these grease monkeys use a pickle fork and BFH to remove pitman arms before. This will destroy a gear box in a heart beat. Sounds like you need to take the truck back, get "that" mechanic to fix it right, and RIGHT now... Take you a lawn chair and sit in front of his bay door (looking in) the whole time while he's working on your truck... If he asks, just tell him you want to make sure he's not going to cost you another $2k and more time...

After your done STOP GOING TO THAT DEALER!!!!

Get yourself a lawyer and get your $2,000.00 back, better yet, if it's a good lawyer, you might be the new owner of the dealership!!!!!

That is exactly why I will never take my truck to a dealer EVER Unless it 100% covered they should of never touched it with out letting you know about the extra $1800. If it was not covered I would do it my self, or go to a good reputable shop.I have had people tell me the dealer wanted $4500 to change out a pump . that's 3Hrs worth of work MAX! and $1000 for the part. MY son took his truck in and Dodge had it 2 week to change out a warranted pump 2WEEKS . AND ,on his 06 2500, auto trans wont stay in 1 gear when he tows his horse trailer its a constant up down up down up down Dodge dealer says there is nothing wrong? And I will bet you that when it gives up there going to deny the claim. If I was you I would scream bloody murder to the Corp. office

Did you call the 1-800# in the back of your warranty book?
If not, call and let customer sevice tell you weather it"s coverd or not.
The dealer will tell you it"s not hoping you won"t check.
Have your vin# and miles ready before you call.
And, if you have an extended warranty, tell them.
Had a dealer tell me my LP was not coverd under my max. care warranty.
The next day I had a refund. The sad part about it is the dealer has this info.

They are doing the the two for one sale. They will take your money and then charge your extended warranty for the same thing. It an old scam to make money. Best way to beat any dealer or service claim is to use your Credit Card to pay for it. Otherwise, you may be out of a lot of money. Then make sure your paperwork is in order (Like all receipts and invoices showing work or inspection done to your vehicle since you took ownership.) Then afterwards, call the Credit Card Company and tell them to deny payment under your card holder agreement for services rendered that they did not do/or did poorly on.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Why I refused to take mine to the dealer. Only the service manager will do work on the truck (he actually told me to ask him) and after the last visit for a inspection of a part, they documented that they changed it, i asked him, is it pratice for your guys to safety wire stuff, he said no, i said then how could any of this been replaced??? I think the kid got fired, but I have 0 tolerance for somebody lying about something they did. I don't care if they said nope, good to go, but to make me wait 2 hours to LOOK at something, and then say they fixed it when they did nothing...... not cool in my book, work on it yourself.

A friend of mine is a mechanic. In Wisconsin a mechanic cannot charge for services you did not authorize. If he has to add a washer and nut to the job he cannot charge for it unless it has been approved.

That said we don't get ridiculous, and most people do not know this law, but good mechanics and good people kind of work things out. I'm sure most areas are like that.

My friend took his car in for warranty work (even though he own a garage, he still will let the dealer do warranty work) and they pulled a fast one on him by saying they did a standard check and his alternator wasn't operating properly and something else and they presented him with a big bill, and he just laughed at them and demanded the keys....

At least here it's not okay for a dealer to decide you need new gears, and steering boxes and maybe a new transmission and well maybe we'll replace all the u-joints while we have the car..... It's illegal!

I hope you check into this. It is not right that they say it's warranty work and then present you with a bill.

I would have told them to remove the parts and put it back the way it was. I've done that before. I do my own work, and I could have swapped out the gear box myself, so you just take yours off, and put my old one back on and I'll be on my way.....

I did this at an oil change place that was charging our company for full service changes and tire rotations etc... I marked the tires and after I paid the bill I took the manager outside and showed him where I chalked the tire positions on each tire. I told him I'd pull every vehicle from regular service (about 35 cars we had going monthly) if this EVER happened again....

The guy was fired, but they all did it.... And I'm sure the manager knew it.

Same thing happened to me when they did the front end recall. They must have beat my pitman too. The gear box was dead within two days after I got it back. No excuses & no apologies, they ordered the parts, and installed them - all covered by warranty. Of course I would have choked someone if they'd have refused it since it was clearly fine before they got ahold of it. After they fixed the gearbox, they had the alignment all out of wack...so back it went a 3rd time a few days after that.

I hate stealerships. Took 4 months to get a trans hose to prevent the fluid draining out of my trans cooler after sitting an hour...that was after agrueing about it, and eventually diagnosing it myself. Ridiculous.

Good luck.
