Just an inquiry - see a lot of trucks in magazines that took off the cover. And I've seen some that were polished, powdercoated, painted...

Just want to see what our members did.

Took it off to set valves and left it off . Needed to make sure the gaskets all sealed anyway. It's basically another thing to produce noise .

I am thinking of removing mine, to chrome or paint the valve covers. I may re-install it, if I paint the valve covers.

Currently have it both ways.... the 77 has it on and the 98 has it off. The 98 is a pain to put back on after valve adjustment.

Mine's off, been that way since I first lashed the valves. I have a set of breather valve covers going on, so the beauty cover won't fit anyhow.

Replaced the rubber anti-vibration washers on both mine with garden hose washers.
The covers were about to fall off on their own after a few hundred thousand miles.

O.k., I INSTALLED one on my truck when I intercooled it. It was in a bunch of parts I had collected. I thought it looked kind of groovy. Made the engine look more finished.

My daughter pulled mine for me

So she could hang it on her wall, No joke!

It does me no good, plus I know what motor is in my truck, so does everybody I drive by
