I love Diesels
Finally had to fill up my truck this afternoon after driving back home from university. First time I have ever seen a trip meter read over 800km, and didnt fill up till 850km
Hand calculated was just shy of 17 mpg, and it was alot of mountain and hill driving, maybe under half of it was flat the rest were big hills. And too boot all the mountain driving was around 75mph. And around town doing 55 its way way better on gas. I'm very happy with my truck.
More power and room then my 07 gas chevy and better mileage to boot.
Gotta put some mods on it now to try and get better

Those 3.73's really help on the fuel mileage. Wish mine got that good though last spring and summer I was spending upwards of $250+ a day on fuel @8-9mpg with a 40' g/n and getting 12mpg unhooked with 4.10's.
I feel the same. This is my first diesel p/u, and I just love. The power and torque is nothing short of amazing. My (V6) Mustang doesn't have that much get up and go.
Fuel m,ileage cruisng around 80mph is about 17.5. Last week I was driving a lot of back mountain roads. With speeds in the 50-60mph rang, I got 22mpg. That's just amazing for an 8,000# truck that's about as aerodynamic as my garage.
Towing is where these trucks really shine. My last truck was a Dakota with a 360. It did OK power wise, but it really struggled on some hills at high altitude. And it really sucked fuel; 10mpg if I was really lucky, usually 8, sometimes as low as 6.
I don't know why I waited so long to buy one. But I'll never buy a gas truck again.
I would love to put a VW TDI drive train into a Cobra replica.

But I agree,,, Amazing mileage for their size and weight,,, My 3500 Quad, dually w/6speed manual gets 21-22 (calculated) empty 7600lb and I just finished a trip pulling my gooseneck slightly loaded @ 9K and got 14+,,, my old gasser would have been ib the 7's LOLOL!!!!!!!

This is my first diesel truck too, I procrastinated TOO many years. I just love the power and fuel mileage over a gasser. Towing is like NOT towing in comparison to a gas truck too. I get 19-something mpg's hand calculated mixed empty and bed loaded, 14-15 mpg's towing loads of 12-18K. That all but double my Ford F-350 with a 460 gasser doing the same stuff.
On the scales my truck is 8932#s - aftermarket bumper/winch, toolbox, GN hitch, bigger tires, full tank of fuel, and my butt in the drivers seat.
Garage on wheels, what aerodynamics????

made a raod trip today to go to the VA Hosipital travled on us 460 and I81 going and I81 and 77 coming back with speeds of 60 to 75 I mannaged 19 mpg on the computer . I get about 17 towing a two car trailer loaded with full size 1/2 ton trucks in the mountains of WV . Love that touque Should have done it years ago
To the opposite of this, I just hauled for work a 37ft 5th wheel 17500lbs for 450 miles with a '08 Chevy HD with the 6.0l gas and got 7.5mpg at 65mph interstate.
Got to feel good with a diesel !!!!
