Talking I have a CTD!

I got my truck this afternoon with 14 miles on the odometer and made the 49 mile trip home. No vibrations at 70 just smooth as silk. Fuel mileage showed 15.1 for the trip with about 80% highway driving at 65 to 70. What a change going from a Ford Ranger 2wd to a Dodge CTD 4X4. This is one awesome truck.

Thanks to all you guys that helped me make my decision. Your knowledge and information helped me know what to look for.

By the way there are still several 555s here in Texas if anyone is looking for one. I just couldn't find one exactly like I wanted. And besides when I buy a new toy I always want the latest and greatest. You know what they say - The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. I love my new toy!

Stepping up from a ranger, that new truck of yours must seem like a giant. Congrats on the new truck hope it brings you many years of joy. I got mine four months ago and I still smile everytime I go out and fire this thing up.

Congrats on your new ride! Take those turns wide until you get used to it! Don't want to scratch the new paint. Enjoy, because they are fun to drive. My wife always asks; "What are we, in a race?" and I tell her; "The truck has a turbo doesn't it?"

Do you have 3.73 or 4.10? I picked up my truck last weekend and I got 13.7 mpg on the trip down the highway. I am halfway through my first tank and averaging 12.7 with a light foot.

I have a 3.73. I am really confused by my mileage but I barely have 100 miles on it so I know things will change. Like I noted above on the trip home from the dealer the overhead showed 15.1 MPG and that was almost all highway driving. Yesterday I spent about 3 hours driving in town pricing bed liners, tonneau covers, and doing a few honey dos. Before I left the house I reset the overhead and when I checked later the overhead was reading 18.1. I thought I had done something wrong so I reset it and kept driving. When I pulled into my driveway it was reading 18.8. That was all in town, stop and go, light traffic, mostly 30 to 45 MPH. I was expecting somewhere around 12.

Congrats Joe! I got mine back in September last year and everytime I drive it it's GREAT! I've owned a lot of trucks over the years, but this is the greatest. I drove my brother's yesterday, and I told him I can't get over how nice the trucks handle... (the only thing I didn't tell him is the difference in power between the HO and SO is also incredible). My truck showed about 19+ on the overhead since I got it, and when I hand calculate my overhead is always accurate. (One of the few that are accurate.) My brother's overhead isn't even close to, what he gets. It is way, way lower than his actual mileage. The only time my mileage really dropped was when I filled up at a place that sells diesel with what I suspect is a lower cetane rating. Your gonna love that truck!! PS When you step on it hold onto the wheel or it might take off and leave you behind!!
