I assume that you are in Alaska due to your user name, correct? I did see you mention that this is a Canadian truck... where exactly do you live? I ask this so that I can possibly recommend a transmission shop...

More of my original question... do you want to build to tow, go fast, or a little of both?

Right now I'm living in B.C. Canada, so any good shop in the province will do. Even someone in Washington state. As far as what type of build goes, I just want it to be a good reliable trailer towing transmission. I don't plan on adding any more power to the truck.

If you hang around here very long you will want to add power for sure...

I have a DTT built transmission with a DTT Triple Disc Torque Converter. I only have about 21,000 miles so far on it...but it has been flawless and pulls hard. Very smooth.

DTT home office is located in British Columbia. Here is a link if you want to call and discuss your plans for your truck. I found "Stefan" to be very helpful, when I had some questions last year. http://www.dieseltrans.com/dodge/index.htm

If you are serious about not adding power, then you will probably just want an upgraded Valve Body and Torque Converter. They can set you up with whatever level of "build" you want.

Good luck.

Congrats on the new truck! It's great to see you are wasting to time putting it to work.

If you are going to stay with stock power, I wouldn't bother upgrading the tc. I know the tranny feels pretty bad with the loose stock converter, but unfortunately a tight tc makes these trucks even more sluggish off the line.

If you are going to up the power of your truck, go ahead and upgrade the tranny, as you'll gain the low end power you need to make up for the tight converter.

Don't be afraid to use low range if you are pulling a heavy trailer in soft terrain such as a field or pastures, it will be much easier on the tranny.

I would jump in the Alberta chapter forum, ask the guys there... the Washington state chapter too...

With the statement of not wanting to add any power, I respect that, even though I am eager to spend other peoples money to help them mod their trucks... At a minimum, I would invest in some gauges, they will help you monitor what's going on while you tow, and if something starts acting funny with the truck, they will help you diagnose what's going on a little better.

I'll leave it to the others here to try to convince you to bomb it out... good luck and congrats again.
