How about putting hubs on a 2007. It seems very expensive. How much does it increase fuel millage, if any? Is the front end prone to failure if you just run it as stock?

the dynatrack ad says 4 mpg gain. That would be great. then why do all/most new 4x4 have full time hubs?

I'm not sure about how the front axle hub is set-up, but if it is like the old jeep stuff, you could pull out the slug and drive around and see if there is any gain in mpg.

KLM Performance has the Dynatrac in stock. I would say you'll find a 2-3 MPG on the average. Well worth it when you need new hubs. Makes a huge difference in older models with high miles. Heck with today gas prices it would pay for itself on newer models.....someone can do the math on that!

EMS offers a kit for $1295.

Mileage gains are 1-2 mpg

3-4 is a strech. Dynatrac wants a premium for everything. they are selling it to thier vendors at 1495 right now so if you know a transamerica vendor you might be able to get a deal.

Personally i like mine. i like the 2 low option and love the fact i dont have to change out my non greasable ujoints in the front anytime soon the PITA factor comes into play here since the dealership just did new joints under warranty at the same time i did the kit so no point spending money till they wear out again which may be awhile since they arent spinning as much any more.


so I like the fact that im not going to have to spend another late saturday night on I80 in nevada waiting for a tow truck then getting towed into town, then having to wait for a shop to open up on monday morning, then having to wait for the dealership to get us a new unit bearing since its a dealer only part, then waiting for a shop to repair it because im 400 miles from home without an air hammer to pound that thing out of the knuckle ............like i had to with my 2002 2500 in the winter of 2004.

I like having a little more control over my drivetrain if it breaks now it is easy to service a bearing but the last spindle front end i had didnt ever smoke a bearing for over 200k miles so i think im in good shap. that said i waited till i cooked my first set of bearings before i did the swap...


Oh and in case you are just factoring in fuel savings i'll shoot you some numbers that might help.

Closest dodge dealership was right at 160 miles away, closest repair shop 74 miles

Tow truck company... better factor in that i had a GN trailer on
So $270 to tow my truck $270 for the trailer Add hotel room $39.99 for two nights saturday and sunday nights

$378 for the unit bearing from the dealership

Plus 4 hours at $70 from the shop to replace the bearing $280

Not including meals

$1278 for a weekend in BFE Nevada where the only excitement in town was the worn out ***** house that i was not going to partake in and the liquor store that is closed after 8 pm and a auto part store that is smaller than my 2car garage at my house


I would like to not have to revisit that experience @$1278 just to get another wheel bearing that lasts 60k miles plus the fuel savings that are small but translate into on average $531 a year in savings for me i think the kit more than pays for itself

dyna-trac is 1875.00 for the kit. i picked up a solid 2 mpg. i called ems offroad first-their kits were on 6 weeks back order-because their hubs came from australia. i did not want to wait that long- plus i knew dyna-trac had a proven reputation and stood behind their products.

I called EMS back in March to order a set of hubs. Thay said that thay would call when thay got all the parts togeather, WELL , still no call !!!!

I ordered my Ems kit a month or two ago, and it came in less than a week, no problems and great parts!!! dont doit 4 mileage gains....i hand calc every tank and its been 1 or less gain. The 2 low and piece of mind is why i bought mine
