So today i was driving on a 100km/h road and i came up behind vehicle and had to slow down, as i was following this vehicle i began to hear a howling noise coming from the diff I think. It will only howl going 95 to 105 km/h and when i step on it it will stop. I was thinking a bearing has begun to go but want to make sure.

I used to have a '65 Pontiac that did that. Turns out it was the nut that holds the yoke on the diff. It got loose and allowed the pinion to move back and forth. On acceleration, it would move forward. On deceleration, it would move back and rub against the carrier. Tightening the nut stopped it, but it kept getting loose.

Dealer called and said it was the driver side front U-Joint. $390 installed + tax. The only thing different between my noise and yours was, mine does it at almost any speed, at certain points it will go away, but no set pattern, it was sparratic.
Mine did the same thing, it was worse when cold. I thought it was the rear end. Then I noticed that the rear outside brakes were worn, it was a howl not a typical high pitch squeal. Canged the brakes and the howl went away.
No, im at 40K so my bump to bump is out and I guess they dont consider the front axle components as part of the "Drivetrain"
Oh and BTW, the u-joint wasnt the problem, the dealer doesnt know what is wrong with it. But, the ujoint was very bad and needed to be replaced regardless.
