How are the new ato trannys?

I am wondering how strong the new auto trannys are. Can they handle the 2006 high output fine? What about a slightly (chipped) modified 2006 CHO?

Thanks Jim

They handle stock JUST FINE...start modding and start opening up the wallet...you're already getting sucked in...don't worry, you're not the first and you're not going to be the last!

Guys on here say the auto will be fine if you upgrade to a small box. They say it is fine up to 80HP. It is basicaly how you drive that determines what will happen. Some people but not all can tear up anything and some just have bad luck.

If you drive it sensibly, you don't need to be afraid of the 48RE auto trans even with some light bombing.

Mine is holding fine with a Smarty Downloader on level 9. Prob in the 450hp area. But, my foot doesn't go to the floor very often and even then the truck is already rolling.

Like somebody else already mentioned....you can break anything if you try. Even the clutch on a stock manual trans.

I think some people can break a steel ball with a glass hammer.

Like these guys are saying you just got to be smart about it. If you don't mind rowing go with the stick. I might think about a stick on my next one but by then i'll have my ToyBox
