Batteries brands

A couple questions, I notice on this thread, Optima & Odyssey type brands are popular. These two are a gel cell type? Instead of the regular wet cell with water and electrolyte, that came in our trucks?

Also I have had good luck with Sears Die Hard in the past, with my 96 Ram, Jeep Wrangler & Montero. Are they just not as good as they use to be or just not as popular? The warranty is good and you can get a replacement at any sears. Who makes Die Hard ? Exide? I know Exide is made down the road in Bristol.

I still have the originals in my 05.

Still have my stockers in my 04.5 with no problems. But on my 99 dodge at around the 4 year mark and 120,000 the drivers side batt. leaked acid out just driving down the road, the acid ate the paint off all over the fender. After that i would notice other trucks finders on that side with the same thing happened to them? Just replaced them both, i checked the alt. and it wasnt overchargeing? I now know 7 people that had this happen and thier all 2nd gen rigs, has anyone seen this on a 3rd gen truck???
