I don't like the sounds of the 07 emissions, how late can I order an 06?
Also has the in tank pump cured lift pump problems?

next year model vehicles USUALLY come out in september, but to be sure call a dealer and ask when the 07's come out and order a truck about 2 months before that

Last year they stopped ordering in the middle of April (I know, I was in the market then) and that was considered early. There were issues with the G56 but there must have been some other issues to stop it so early. Retooling for the new design of the 06???

I'd kick up your effort right now so you're not left out, if you want an uncommonly optioned truck.

Thats exactly right. Dealers are going into the build out phase and very soon no more 2006 orders will be taken. Jump now.

Doesn't Cummins change calender year vs. model year though? They went to the 04.5 vs 04 in January, the early '07s might be particulate trap free.

I would almost bet you will see an 07 with the 5.9 up until dec 31st.. then it will be an 07 1/2 with the 6.7 and all the new smog junk...

Just my guess...

You guys bring up good points. Maybe Cummins does. Remember the 12 valve to 24 valve switch happened 1/98, as did the beginning of the 600. I bet Jerry's right and we won't see the 6.7 until 1/07. I belive that's the date all stations have to have the low sulfur fuel by. Maybe the early 07's won't be much different than the 06's.

Maybe one of the DTR members with ties to DC can dig up some info.

sixcylinders, no problem with my in tank pump, but since this just started in 05, any problems are probably few and far between.

What type of truck are you looking for? If it's an SLT, I bet you'll be able to find one that close enough to what you want, like I did. Are you anywhere close to CT?

I live in South Central PA and i was wondering the same thing about when is the latest to order an 06, ive been checkin around and not one dealer has what i want, 06 3500 SLT QCLB 6sp in black or dark blue with cab lights. Every truck that ive looked at that is a 3500 QCLB has the auto in them, have not seen one yet with the 6speed, i have to wait a couple more months before i can go get one, not to long though but i hope i still will be able to order one, i sure hope.

I'm the same as you Bswope, can't jump right now, but in 3 months.
I'm wanting a reg cab,SLT,4x4,auto. Reg cabs are rare anymore and the new ones on lots are ususally SL. I might research the early/late 07 thought, maybe the early o7's won't have all the smog stuff. And I really like the 05's, did a autotrader search and found quite a few used nice 05 reg cabs scattered around the country, I'm not against getting on a plane to go get the right truck, especially if I can swing through Vegas on the way home
My 01 has been a great truck, except lift pumps
I don't want any more of that routine.

I posted the question of when we'll see the 6.7 on a ram list I'm on. One of the Mods often posts industry news. He replied the following:

"6.7 is announced as the engine from the outset for the 2007 3500
Chassis/Cab model. Cummins is not saying they will produce the 5.9 for
MY2007, and with unknown sales volume at Dodge, they likely couldn't
determine how many they would need to build for a Jan 1 2007 switch, and
Dodge would have no idea how many they would sell... if there are too
many 5.9s left over, there's nothing they can do with them except use
them as parts-swappers - not cost efficient for DC or Cummins. I
thoroughly expect the 6.7 for the whole model year."

I would think we'd hear some more info on this in the near future. You know how Dodge would love everyone to know they have the "biggest and most powerfull truck engine on the planet" once the 07's can be ordered.
