Hot rear diff????? shavings 22k miles ugh!
well after reading another post I decided to investigate my rear diff paint peel and pulled the plug fluid was full as some ran out but appeared watery with some graphite like substance as well as some shavings how concerned shoud I be? 22k miles book calls for diff fluid chnge but I did not buy the extended warranty and do not want the runaround for the next 14k till I am out of warranty. also shoul I pu the stock tires back on before I take it in will they give me grief over my 35s? I just paid her off too. Are there any 3.55s out yet may be a good time to change over.
I bought mine from a dealer with 25k miles and the lube was fresh but left 2" low and much metal on the magnet. The bearings are all way low on preload but DC won't warranty cuz it's quiet. What to do, what to do?? I thought about leaving it 2" low and finish it off but with my luck, something would backfire on me and I would get stuck with it anyway. I changed to syn 75w140 and next time it will get 85w140. Who knows, it might make it with good changes. It's so much brain damage getting warranty work, I decided to try to make it last. Craig
The shavings and graphite looking oil is a good sign actually, means your R&P is wearing and seating as it should, Id be more worried if I didnt se any shavings. BUT, you need to get that oil out of there, quick, odds are they are done seating and you shouldnt see the shavings anymore.
