Altering the Catalytic Converter that is installed by the manufacturer in anyway is against Federal Law. There may be exceptions to this, but not in a normal vehicle driven on public roads. I would assume that would void any warranty in and of itself, regardles of whether or not it caused any engine or vehicle problems.

Not a lawyer, but I am sure that DC has one that would be able to prove it.

I would have bought the 305/555 if I was just paying attention.

Well, if you are really worried about it, you can get the catalytic converter _test_ fitting from DPPI. That way you can put it back if you get really nervous about it.

That is what I will be doing.

OK, I'm NOT A LAWYER!!! But I'm kind of skeptical about removing the cat having anything to do with anything other than the vehicle's emissions controls warranty.

The warranty manual says under the "California Emission Warranty" section that Daimler can deny warranty coverage if your truck or a part has failed due to neglect, ... or unapproved modifications. I'd guess a mod like removing the CAT would void the warranty on the CAT, or maybe even cutting the end of it off to fit my Banks exhaust.

But I doubt if I had a leaky injector, or smoked my tranny that they would deny coverage because of the CAT.
