Talking 72 MPH vibration fixed!:D

I've had the vibration at 72 MPH since the truck was new. Because of speed limits where I do the vast majority of my driving, I don't typically drive near that speed and have basically ignored the problem. Recently, my truck developed a leak at the rear of the transfer case that appeared to be the driveshaft seal. I took it in to Sundance Dodge in Boise for repair and it turned out it was leaking through the yoke, not the seal. On mine, the yoke has a balancer that looks like rubber mounted harmonic balancer one would typically see on the front of a crank shaft. They replaced the yoke assembly under warranty.

Yesterday, I snuck the truck up to 75 MPH (in a 55 zone) and the 72 MPH vibration was gone! I'll get the truck up on a freeway in a couple of days for some extended driving at 72 and higher speeds to see how it behaves.

TTFN....

I'm glad yours is fixed! But I hate to hear that cause mine doens't have the vibe but the yoke is leaking! Just great, change the yoke to fix the leak and get a vibe. That would be my luck.

What's up with these leaking yokes? I've never ever heard of that happening before, and I've been around...

clean with brake clean around the welch plug at the rear of the yoke and coat with a good silicone sealant. that will cure the leak. fixed many like that.

Thank you Sawboywv1. I was thinking about using some epoxy glue to fill the seam around the welch plug, just didn't really know if that would last long term.

Thanks Gary

Thanks for the tip my yoke only seems to leak when i am towing with heavy tounge weight The dealer couldn't find the leak big suprise.....

I think I should take all my scratched Safety glasses and paint the lenses black and sell them to Dodge as "diesel tech inspector glasses" then i could afford there 30 dollar a quart mystery oil....
