High Idle and other computer update q's...

Been doing a lot of reading on here to learn more about my new-to-me '06 and was excited to find that it has a high-idle feature to help it warm up when cold. So I go out to try it and whaddya know.... doesn't work. After much reading, it looks like I just have to take the truck in to a dealer and have them activate that feature in the computer, correct (truck is an AT)? Are there any other computer options I should ask them to enable at the time that make the vehicle more liveable? (Have read some things about all door locks activating when you kit the unlock button). Have also heard that many techs at Dodge dealerships have no idea about these features.... are there any terms/terminology I should be aware of that will make it easier to tell the tech what I want? Thanks!

When you ask for high idle enable you need to specify, high idle by cruise control. low temp high idle is enalbed by default on all these trucks.

As for the door locks, seat belt dinger, etc. most of that you can do yourself. There's a list on here of how to do those things. I've done them on mine.

Toothmech...you are confusing TWO DIFFERENT high idle operations. The first one, in all gen 3 trucks, raises the idle of the engine to approximately 1000RPM when it is cold (about freezing and below) and the engine is cold or only warm. It is controlled by the ECM, you have NO control over it.

The second is the PTO high idle. It is controlled by the cruise control buttons. Raises RPM's from 1100-1500. This is available in LATE 03-onward 3 gens. The program has to be turned on first. That is done by a dealer, or someone with a StarScan tool or one of the performance programers that does this (there are 3 that I know of, Smarty is one of them). In addition, if you have a manual tranny a pin#22 on the ecm has to be grounded (5.9 engines) or a wire under the dash has to be grounded (6.7 engines).

If you go to the dealer and he tech does not know what you are talking about tell him:
Starscan Main Menu > ECU View > PCM > Misc. Functions > Idle Up Feature Enable > Start > Next > Next > Enable > Next > Finish

I believe you can get them to program the fog lights to stay on when you are using the high beam.
