High Idle On Its Own On A 6 Spd
It probaby needs the NEW mirco switch kit(for clutch pedal) to enable it,or maybe not.Put park brake on,trans out of gear.Feet off brake etc.and turn cruise ON.If it comes ON then hit accel button and see.it might be addresed in the OWNERS manual. If IT dosen't work then it needs to be ENABLED with a DRB at the dealer. Then IT might need the micro switch for the clutch pedal.

The 1000 ramp up is not just for warm up. Its also there for you guys that idle your trucks too long. We actually refer to it as the "extended idle" feature. It helps to keep your crankcase ventilation system clear.

At LOW idle speed it does harm.To ALL diesels. They dobn't make enough HEAT at idle to throughly burn fuel.Rings stick, carbon buildup, cyliners being washed down with unburned fuel etc.diesels are designed to run at a continuious speed bbut under 1000 rpm is not it.Even in HOT weather its better to ramp them up to 1100 to 1500 rpm.Run for days at 1400/1500 rpm with no harm. The 89s had a hand throttle! Wish they ALL did.fire it up let run a few seconds and pop them to 1200 rpm or so.Aides in warmup also in friged temps. In COLD weather they'll idle forever at 750 rpm and NEVER open the thermostat.
