2002 6 spd flywheel on 2001 5 spd?
2002 6 spd flywheel on 2001 5 spd?
im looking to upgrade to the 13" clutch and 1 3/8" input shaft...
i found a flywheel off a 2002 2500 6 speed (92000 miles) and wondering if it will bolt on my 2001 2500 5 speed equipped motor? i obviously know i need a 13" clutch with the larger input shaft as a result, but is there anything else that is needed for it to bolt on? is there a minimum thickness of the flywheel before it cant be used anymore? what questions do i need to ask the seller?
thanks for the help!

Talk to Peter from South Bend clutch, he has new flywheels for the 13" conversion, with roller pilot bearings
That is what I have in my 6 speed
The only difference is the offset of the flyweel on the 6 speed
If you put a 6 speed flywheel in your 5 speed, you will need a spacer to move the starter and longer bolts.
I had to get shorter starter bolts when I put the 5 speed flywheel in mine.

i'll speak to him concerning the conversion, i just have an opportunity to purchase this flywheel extremely cheap (way cheaper than what i'd pay for a new flywheel w/ the conversion).
the way i see it is: i purchase the flywheel, get it re-surfaced, then only need to supply the clutch and input shaft for it to be functional, and adjust the starter offset.
Glenn,
i guess im a little confused, why would you put the 5spd flywheel on your 6spd equipped truck?

Because I wanted to put the clutch in myself and didn't have anyone that could turn it on the weekend(when I could do it). So, I had to have a new flywheel. I used the 5 speed flywheel from the 13" clutch conversion so I would have a new flywheel.
