Yup, if it is below a certain temp your truck will idle up on its own to try to keep the engine warm.

+1 on the high idle. Mine is six speed and does it on its own in the cold as well.

"auto's only until just recently" - please explain. Are you saying that you can now set the idle with the cruise on the manuals now??

Have read where now a micro clutch switch and a probably TSB is going down the info hiway for the 6 speeds. The switch is available through Cummins now.A few have already had their 6 speeds enabled! But YES now the 6 speeds will be able to have the RAMP UP high idle.BUT not 03/04s(dang) Mopar part number 51754171aa or Cummin 4089851

I have a 05 auto. I do have the high idle enabled which I can use with the cruise control buttons. But also from factory that if it is below a certain temp outside, it will automatically ramp up to 1000 rpm. I have also noticed that even having the truck all warmed up and running fine. I am sitting waiting for the wife or whatever, tranny in Park, that after a few minutes, truck idles back up to 1000 rpm. So I'm not sure if it is because of the outside temp or if it is also tied in with the coolant temps also. As I have noticed that when sitting still (10 minutes or so) that my coolant temps start to go down (normal) and that is when I see the rpms go up to 1000.

Not trying to pimp out the BullyDog stuff but I just looked at the latest updates for the Tripledog and it shows that it enables the high idle, and a whole bunch of new stuff for the 06 models...

Still no CLDL for my 03 though
