Help. truck on startup

Need some help guys. Went on a 2 hr drive up to a football game. left the game and drove 2 hours back. nothing out of the ordinary. stopped for food. came out and started the truck. it idles for like 3 seconds really rough at about 450 rpm then gets up to normal idle after 3 seconds and runs fine. when it starts and is rough a big plume of blue smoke comes out the pipe. what could this be. once it is idleing it is fine. no loss of power. no codes. runs good. but it does it now everytime u let it sit for 10 minutes or more. only on startup. turbo? injectors? I pulled the dipstick and it doesn't smell like any diesel. any help is great.

Valve guides are worn causing oil to leak into combustion chamber causing blue smoke at start up then once warm they seal again and all is fine???

Start with the simple stuff. When did you change the fuel filter last? I'd break open the filter drain and catch what comes out. You may have picked up some water.

might be an injector(s) leaking down after shutdown; a few seconds after start-up extra fuel is gone. Reason is you stated you have blue smoke, fuel could be washing the oil off of the cylinder walls. If it is still under warranty take it into the dealer immediately while the symptoms are repeatable.

Yea i last changed the fuel filter 5,000 miles ago but I will change it tonight and take a look inside. Also i'm going to pull the inlet tube on the turbo to see if there is any oil sitting in there. the truck only has 64k miles. hopefully not an injector. if the fuel canister doesn't solve the problem it will be going straight to the dealer. Thanks guys. any other input is great

No doubt it is an injector or two gone south.

alright thanks guys. not really too big a deal just a pain that now I have to take her in for warranty. if its injectors, that should be covered under the 100k mile warranty from cummins right? do you think the dealer will throw a hissy fit because I have an aftermarket air filter on the truck. its an afe system? or should I put the stock unit back in to keep from having any issues.

To be safe put the stock box back on it. No worries then.
