Help with slip yoke seal

I saw the other thread about popping the metal to metal cap/seal and using RTV to re-seal it. Question is, how do you pop the cap/seal? Hammer and socket extension?

Sounds good, maybe also a socket that just fits the plug...

Okay I got the plug out but I can't get it back in. I've been tapping for the last hour trying to get this plug to seal. Someone who has done this, please tell me how you did it!!!
