Help with A/C shutting off...
A few weeks ago, I got into my truck and began driving out of my neighborhood and within the first 1/4 mile, the a/c just shut off all by itself. I played with all the switches but nothing happened. I made a brief stop and when I got back in the truck, all was fine and has been for the last few weeks.
Yesterday, my truck sat in the parking lot all day and when I got in it to head home...no air again and the switch was on. Again, I made a stop and when I started it up the a/c was back on and seemed to be fine. Just before I made it home, it failed again while driving. This morning all has been fine...???
My switches on the dash are aftermarket billet *****. I did play around with them to make sure they weren't stuck but could find anything outside of normal.
The easy answer is to take it to the dealer but I have concerns about all the mods I've done. I've got gauges, Bully Dog downloader, air intake and hose, lift, exhaust, etc. I know to re-download the stock settings but, will they freak out at the dealership because of the air cleaner???
Anyone have any advice???

Chances are the problem lies in your control head will isnot and should not be affected by any of the mods that you mentioned above. I would just take it to the dealer and let them fix the problem. After all that is why there is warranty.

Two things come to mind:
1. It is low on freon. When the freon gets low, the low-pressure cut-out switch turns off the compressor to save it from chewing itself up from lack of lubricant.
2. Wide open throttle cut-out switch. I'm not sure if our trucks have this feature but most cars do. Did you have your foot to the floor when your A/C cutout?

I've messed around with all my ***** (aftermarket *****) and it did seem like one was a little sticky. A minor adjustment and all has been fine since.
I guess it's gonna be a wait and see game.
Thanks for the help guys.
