Help! 48re 3rd gear missing

Been having shifting anomalies for a week. Kind of hunting for right gear off and on. Yesterday at 45 mph would not up shift to 3rd. Drove 5 miles in 2nd and parked it. Reset tpps by disconnecting batteries for 30 min and then reconnected and pressed accelerator to floor slowly 3 times with key on. Took for test drive and appeared better. Is there more to this? Truck is 2005 2500 with 72,000 miles with Bully Dog Triple Dog set on Tow/Haul level. This all started after updating Triple Dog to new software.

Remove the Bully Dog and see if you still have issues. If not then the programmer is causing the problem.

Not really that good with the 48, maybe someone else will chime in. Sounds like a programming issue to me though. Does it repeat the same manners if you reload the BD.

Have yo had the bands adjusted on the tranny? When was the last time you had the fluid changed with the filter? How is the fluid level? Inquiring minds want to know. these things ar important adn must be answeded first.

Fluid was changed 30,000 ago by the dealer. Dont know if filter was changed. Fluid level is correct, never have to add. Bands have never been adjusted. Could it be as simple as band adjustment? This is a daily driver that tows 5k twice a year.
