Heavy duty?

I am looking at an 03 2500 regular cab and it doesn't say heavy duty on the tailgate like my other 03 does. I was wondering if there were two different ones that year or if they are all heavy duty and what the differences might be. Also the 03 i am looking at is an automatic what can you tell me about it. Thanks

If it's a 2500, its a "Heavy Duty". Someone just de-badged it.

03 with SO engine most likely has a 47RE. Late 03 with an HO engine most likely has a 48RE.

There used to be 3/4 and even 1Ts (like 1T vans) with flanged axle and they called them light duty. Floating axles (hence the hd) is the norm now but the mfgrs still hope to catch anyone who thinks HD it's something special. Craig

The first thought that comes to me is to check to see if its been in an accident.
People get cheap when fixing a vehicle that was smashed.
