Having some shaking issues.
Having some shaking issues.
When I'm at a dead stop and take off there is a little shaking going on somewhere. This is while i'm accelerating not while i'm letting the clutch out. When I'm in 4 wheel drive it doesn't seem to do it as bad but I was in snow so it may not matter. Seems to quit by the time i hit third gear. Any ideas?

If you have a 2-piece rear shaft the carrier bearing could be suspect. The rubber fell apart on mine and caused the shaft to run out-of-round, so to speak, upon take-off. Once up to speed it smoothed out. Got me a Spicer carrier bearing (WAY BETTER DESIGN) FOR $60 and no more shudder.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Nascarcamper, found that part number for ya....it's Spicer #210391-1x
Did mine myself but next time I'll just pay the driveline shop I got it from the extra 20 bucks to do it. Oh well, gained some extra experience for myself I guess. Hope this helps you out.

The Spicer design is more along the lines of what you'd see under a medium/heavy duty truck. You know, the round design. That oddball setup that these trucks come with is just awful. You're depending basically on four rubber tabs to hold the bearing on center. Crawl under your truck and grab your driveshaft right at the bearing area see how much up/down movement you've got. You'll be surprised at what you find. With the Spicer bearing on there you have ZERO MOVEMENT!!!
