Just installed Quad XZT...having issues! Help!

Ok, so I got my hands on a Quad XZT thats has the stacking program on it. I installed it, simple and easy like always. Drove the truck for a good hour in town, idled a few times while I went into my Honda shop, etc.

Came home and killed the truck for about 5 minutes. Came back out to go pick up the g/f and fired up fine. As soon as I put it in gear, it started idling/running really rough/inconsistent. I tried to drive off and it got worse. Would try to die and then run fine for a few seconds and then try to die again. It threw the CEL as well...

I pulled back to the house, un-plugged the XZT and checked the DTCs with the Triple Dog. Had DTC code P0341 (Camshaft Performance)...I cleared the code. I un-hooked my batteries and let the truck set a few minutes. Hooked it all back up and fired 'er up. CEL went off and the truck is fine. Runs like a champ again with the XZT off...

Anyone have any idea? QUAD can you comment on this?

I don't know how the XZT could be responsible for a cam sensor code.

It only plugs into the rail pressure sensor and map sensor.

When i had my xzt box on it would do something like that. I tried to put di electric grease on the plugs and that sorta helped finally i just had to take it off.
But I sold it to my dad and it works great on his, so much that everybody he knew bought one.

Hmmm, an error with the camshaft sensor will make the truck run like crap but, I am not sure how the XZT could cause it, especially with the stacking program???

I am not sure what the problem would be quite frankly unless you have a CPS going on the fritz? I hate to say a coincidence but, I just cannot figure out how the XZT could make this happen in the worst possible instance?

If I were you I would plug the XZT back in and drive it. If the code comes back up I would really think you need to figure out if something is wrong with the CPS.

I think this is the first time I have heard of that code combined with the XZT??

I woulda hooked it up and just drove it but it was running so bad that I couldnt drive it. When I checked the little light inside the box, it was staying red or just blinking orange? Not sure on that whole deal....

It also threw a over-boost code the 2nd time I hooked it back up. I'm going to hook it back up again today and see what happens. Like I said, once I un-hook it...everything is fine. I hooked my boost fooler back up just to see what would happen and everything was kosher. Right now I'm running with just the Triple Dog with no problems at all...truck is fine.

I was stacking the EZ for sometime before this with no codes/issues. What is the CPS? Camshaft Performance Sensor I'm guessing?

Anymore help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok so I just hooked the XZT back up...havent started the truck up yet. I turned the key on and watched the light. It flashes green when the ignition is turned on then it flashes orange twice and then it flashes red and then just stays on red.

Dont know if this helps with anything. I'm going to go try and drive it around to see what it does...

That is what it is supposed to do. That is a flash sequence on start up. If you read the manual or if you got the manual it will tell you if that is what year truck you have.

CPS= Camshaft Position Sensor

Yes, if something goes bad with the CPS your truck will probbaly run really, really bad.

Do you have a Bullydog Outlook monitor installed. They seem to drag down the signal quality from the MAP sensor and can cause all kinds of problems when you add other boxes. If you do try unplugging it from the ODBII port and see if things get any better, if not I hope you find the problem. Good Luck, Tom J.

Ok, I wasn't sure if the flash sequence was correct. I dont have the manual so I didnt know. I was just going off what the boost fooler does which it flashes green when its working properly, thats why I wasnt sure on the flash sequence.

I hooked it back up and so far...so good. Took a 30 minute drive around town with no issues and it didnt throw any codes.

Quad, just wanted to tell ya...I wasn't trying to attack or talk bad on your product in my beginning post if you felt that way. I really like how the power comes on with the XZT, it just frustrated me that something was messing up because I really wanted to run this stack set-up.

Thanks for the help again

I will keep you posted...
