Leaky injectors? Dirty fuel filter? Low tire pressure? Headwind? Bad fuel? Bad math? I dunno...I'll bet it was still cheaper than paying someone to haul it for you.

Oh, and toss that K&N, your engine will thank you.

It is as simple as economics
I don't need 2 of everything
ie. 2 shop bills, 2 sets of tires, 2 tags, 2 insurance payments, 2 oil changes, ....
See where this is going?
I need a truck that can do many jobs hauling heavy loads is one of them.

Hey I live in Huntsville and its been raining quite a bit lately(we need it bad) So I question is did you tarp your load and did it get wet at all. A buddy of mine bent a 34' gooseneck with a load large round bails that got soaked in a down pore. Just a though of mine.

WoW! And to think I feel bad when anything under 17 comes out of my hand calculating! I just thought pulling 2 axle 5,400LB full 350 gallon tank that's not really any higher than my cab (in fact I can just see flat along the top in the rearview) full is sometimes better mpg than pulling it empty! (2,000LB)

Even when I tugged a big office trailer (30' long and at least 12' high) for 25 miles or so my mileage wasn't hurt TOO bad..

At the last dyno event i was out there was a 828 hp 68 camero that got 10 gallons per mile and that I do believe is crappy milage. I dont pull heavy trailers just sled pull but you shouldnt expect your truck to get good milage for pulling that much weight. Yes we know that a cummins will do it and maybe legal but thats beyond the point. You cant buy a 7000 pound truck and expect to get high fuel milage either like most peope do. But that does seem quite low maybe you are in need of a full service with all filters.

I always tarp. I use 2x4's for uprights and put the tarp between them and the hay & put 7 3" straps across the top. It may not be worth a flip but it just feels better to me.

I came thru B-ham on 20 and 65 to hartselle

I hate 20 and 65 in B-ham
