Hard Start Issue

My truck has come to the point where I have to crank on it a couple of seconds to get it to start both cold and hot. This started about 2 weeks ago. I have checked all connections I can get to and put dielectric grease on them. I change the fuel filter every 10k miles (done 2k miles ago) and the air filter was changed the last week of October. My Quad Commander reads 13 to 14 lbs of fuel pressure at idle and about 10 WOT. I cycled the key this morning and got a P0192 code. I run 1oz of Diesel Kleen per 3 gals. of fuel in each tank and have since I drove the truck off the lot. The truck has 95k on it and I am wondering if I should take it to the dealer and have them look at it hoping the problem may be covered under the engine warranty or if it might be something I could fix myself. The truck runs fine once it starts.

We have a big trip planned pulling the 5th wheel on 12/22 so I would really like to get this issue taken care of before we hit the road. Any ideas?

• P0192 Fuel Pressure Sensor Voltage Too Low

Don't know if you already new that. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the engine is not turning over fast enough. When batteries start to get weak its a slow process and hard to hear from what it use to be.

Yeah I did do a search on the P0192 but thanks.

The starter spins it over fine, the batteries are about 6 months old. Up until a couple of weeks ago it would fire right off now I have to crank it a couple of seconds before it will fire off. Other than that it runs fine. I was thinking about replacing the rail pressure sensor but I hate to start throughing parts at it until I have a good idea what it causing the issue.

Put a Hand Tach on it to be sure your getting the desired RPM when starting.

I don't know what's required or desired there. I know 300 rpm's was good in some of the old GM products years ago. Someone else may know that has a shop manual.
